Add an Expiration Date to Armbraces
Proposal to add an expiration date to armbraces...
how it works....
30 days after an armbrace is obtained it is customized to a players account
the timer will fresh start to pre-existing armbraces when the update goes live
after 30 days armbraces cannot be sold, traded to other players or dropped but still can be redeemed for tormented weapons
timer will also apply to gems but 90 days
reason
to be consistent with anets current stance (medals of honor for example)

This sounds like a great idea! It's not like Armbraces are used for really high-end trades or anything!

Ok so medals of honor can't be traded or sold...but war supplies can be traded, meaning there's no point to the above really.

part of me would sorta love this, but only because I know I will never have any and as such I'll never get the really high end stuff and my selfishness would rejoice in the anger it would cause those that work on that level of trades.
However I'll be nice to those seeing most of them prolly worked their way there, and trading and gaining ingame riches seems to be their way to enjoy the game. Something I don't quite understand, but thats alright.
So although this would not affect me at all I will /notsign (sorry)

what current stance is that? HoM weapon collector items being untradeable? the weapons themselves are tradeable so that wouldn't make any sense.. if anything, medals of honor -should- be tradeable. the reason they're not is probably because medals of honor were in the game before the oppressor weapons were (untradeable medals ensured nobody got scammed selling their hard-earned medal before they knew what it was for).
now think about who you'd anger by making them untradeable on a 30 day timer. imagine someone who enjoys collecting in-game wealth (let's say s/he's got a stack of armbraces) coming back from a 90 day hiatus from GW.
i don't quite understand what you mean by anet's current stance, but your proposal seems like it would anger alot of people without any real necessity to 'fix' the problem of consistency.

we should make it to were all your money in your storage can only be spent at merchants after 30 days as well. so that you can't trade it to other players.
locking items to a players account so they cannot trade them away, even if that is the entire reason they farmed them in the 1st place, is ridiculous.

Perfect opportunity to get rid of the existing dupers out there, who did not get caught and did not have their accounts banned. Like come'on, howmany people did [(farm --> you must have no live)] receive/gather/collect/w.e 1 stack of Armbraces legitmately? not to mention there are people with maybe 10, 20+ stacks.
And to be honest, what is the point of having 1 stack of armbraces? That is
23 x 250 ectos = 5750 Ectos x 7.5k = 43 million gold coins. Each other stack adds up another 43 million.
Compared to these people, I'm not a very rich player myself, with about 1 million in gold coins. Since I have unlocked/completed everything in Guild Wars and have no further important goals, there is no further purpose for me of playing any more. ''Then why are you still playing omgg go uninstall omagaaddd????? --> Well mostly because I'm bored, to help out friends and guildies and to PvP (Which ANet spends way to little attention to).''
The point I'm making is, what purpose would there be for players with 1-10 stacks of Armbraces? Those people must have most certainly completed EVERYTHING, but really EVERYTHING in-game, by themselves or by other people(since they have enough wealth to finance it). It isn't like you can bring your wealth from GW1 to GW2 (thank god), apart from titles.
I know some people may find powertrading/trading a fun way of making money. I used to enjoy it myself to improve my skills, not just in-game but it can also help outside of the game. But comeon, how is this still fun with 50+ ecto stacks sitting in your storage? You basically ''cannot'' do ''anything'' with it, since there are only a few high-end high valued weapons in-game. I don't expect people buying 30 BDS's, 40 gold insc Crystalline swords and 50 Obby edges. The most, rich and wealthy, people that I have met we're to selfish to share their ''hard-earned'' wealth with their guildies, maybe even friends. Therefore, with the time-limit on these items, people should reconsider, be more friendly and start giving out, instead of stacking up so that all other people will have a chance of having atleast 1 rare high-end weapon. Instead of a few people stacking up nearly all the high-end weapons.
P.S --> Can't wait for all the flamers to burn me down to the ground, woop woop!

this would make high end trading nearly impossible and would make things like pandas and island guardians not really possible to obtain.
so absoultly no.

and how do you want to stack this item?
Let's say, someone buys 50 armbraces on one day - each one will have a different "age" - resulting in 50 individual inventory spaces ...
Hell, given the amount of "troll-per-line" I first thought this was Phoenix Tears' 2nd account.... but... naaaaah, not enough wall of text

/notsigned,
what a terrible idea, how will people buy/sell items worth > 1750e? that would essentially crash the entire market.
Also this wont hurt the dupers more than it will hurt the many players who actually trade in armbraces
and as for gems... what about us trenchway players who dont convert our gems to armbraces right away? many of my guildies have a stack or so of each gem, why should they be forced to convert it to an armbrace and then have to sell it on or make a tormented weapon within another 30 days or they essentially lose all the money they put the effort into attaining?
Seriously, what a horrible idea.... good trolling, though.

There is no expiration date on birthday cupcakes - which I'm sure get very stale & hard sitting around in an inventory bag. There is no expiration date on Creme Brule - which I would imagine would get smelly and mouldy if not consumed right away. Another amazing thing to me is that Hecket/Amphibian Tongues don't become maggot infested and stinky when kept in storage. And Dwarven Ale - It may keep for a long time being in sealed bottles and kegs, but eventually it will go stale.
THOSE are the kinds of things that should have expiration dates. NOT!

They should have been untradeable like Medals of Honor since day 1 (people having to trade the gems instead), but they are not, so it's too late to change that now.
If they changed them so they become untradeable like Zaishen Coins and Medals of honor, I wouldn't be against it, but it's probably not going to happen.
But expiration dates? That makes no sense. Something must be either tradeable or not, regardless of time. In GW, you should be able to leave for whatever the reason and go back without worries.

getting a stack of armbraces really isn't that diffcult if you think about it. good doa guilds can consistently get under 1h full runs so you could easily do 2 or more runs in a night which if you alternate starting points properly is an armbrace +1 gemset right there in 2hours of gw. so a stack is only like 475 ish hours (19 days) of non-stop doa.

Better yet,
lets make it to where every item in the game is customized to your character to moment you acquire it.
It will be consistent with anets current stance (armor).

another example of how some people in today's society want to control other peoples' lives. What do YOU care about how other people play a computer game if it does not affect how YOU play that game??? So some people have a ton of armbraces in their inventory. Or ectos. Or fancy weapons. Or rare minis. What is it to you? Get it into your head that as long as we all have the ability to get the same maximum spec weapons it does not mean anything. Nobody has the right to be happy - you only have the right to pursue happiness.
For full disclosure, I am not a power trader nor do I have any armbrace, just a few hundred ectos and just a few rare minis.

not everyone is using these for high end stuff...my husband and I are getting our gems slowly and painfully (we have a few of each type each)....its a 'huh?' idea at best.
and this would only make people hoard more ectos instead (unless the OP has figured out how to dupe those).

i have always wondered how people got stacks of ambraces. honestly, any way i do the math, i cant see it taking under 500 hours of farming, and that is if everything goes perfectly every run, and you can do about 1.5 doa clears an hour (30 gems), so it would probably take a lot more time.
unless they get this wealth thru minis or somethign
/notsigned on op btw, dont see the point
